StanChart Malaysia employee tests positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: An employee from Standard Chartered Malaysia’s Petaling Jaya branch has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement issued today, the bank said the confirmed case has not been to any of the bank’s branches or premises since Feb 28 when they went on leave.

The person practised self-quarantine upon returning from travelling abroad on March 13 and was checked at a hospital upon developing symptoms.

“All the Bank’s branches and office premises have been and will continue to be thoroughly disinfected, in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines,” said the bank, which added that business will continue as normal.

“We do not anticipate any impact to business as this case is contained and we have taken immediate measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees and clients,” it added.

In addition to other measures, Standard Chartered Malaysia has put in place restrictions on business-related travel and on returning employees from countries with travel restrictions in place.
